What is ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a kind of sound wave whose frequency is higher than 20 kilohertz (Hz). Normal people can hear 20 Hz (Hz) - 20 kHz (kHz) sound waves. Sound waves below 20 Hz are called infrasound or subsonic waves. Sound waves over 20 kHz are called ultrasonic waves. Ultrasound is a kind of mechanical vibration. Usually it propagates in elastic medium by longitudinal wave. It is a form of energy and momentum. Its difference is that the frequency of ultrasound is high, the wavelength is short, and the propagation along a straight line in a certain distance has good beam and directivity.
